A perfect match with T1, M500S features two export
grade Valve Art 300B in parallel class A single-ended
configuration doubling the power output to 18W. The
300B circuit is fixed bias design giving each tube
external individual bias adjustment for optimal performance.
The driver tube used is the JAN Philips US military
grade 6SL7WGT tube. Power supply uses Shuguang 5Z3PA
(5AR4/5R4WGB) tube rectifier and choke filtering for
smooth DC supply and very gentle voltage rise time.
The no global negative feedback design gives you the
purest and most neutral, natural sound available from
the directly heated triode like the 300B. You will
be amazed by the driving power of 18W, including a
very satisfied user of Quad ESL speaker.
The 300B used is the Valve Art nickel anode/plate
(brown base) version, with gold plated grid wire and
lead free glass. Nickel, the preferred plate material
in 'long life' industrial tubes, offers several important
advantages over common iron-based anode metals. First,
Nickel has low magnetic permeability, thus avoiding
interference by leakage from magnetic fields commonly
found in the tube audio amplifiers. The manufacturer
claims that lessened susceptible to the effects of
magnetic interference, common with iron anodes but
virtually eliminated with nickel anodes, offers a
purer sound. Second, the purity of nickel is much
greater than that of iron based anode materials, offering
more consistency. To us, this version of Valve Art
300B offers the best sound and reliability among the
Chinese 300B variants today. In addition, they are
all tested, matched and screened by Opera Audio's
Sofia vacuum tube curve tracer before shipment and
backed by 90 days warranty.
